Silje Nes - Ames Room

Silje Nes is a norweigen singer / songwriter. Her debut album 'Ames
Room' has an indie folk sound and was entirely home-recorded. It's
perfect to chillout and relax to.

Midlake - The Courage Of Others

Brand spanking new from Midlake, an American band from Texas. Their
previous album 'The Trials of Van Occupanther' was excellent and this
one maintains the high standard.

They play indie rock with a 60s/70s vibe. This will be one of the
albums of 2010, definitely not to be missed.

Vetiver - Tight Knit

Vetiver released 'Tight Knit' in 2009. They're an American indie folk band and this is their 4th album.

Here We Go Magic

Slightly psychedelic indie folk. The self titled debut album was
easily one of my favourite releases of last year.

Sin Fang Bous - Clangour

Sin Fang Bous is a relative unknown Icelandic guy called Sindri Már
Sigfússon, he doesn't even have a Wikipedia page as of writing.

His sound is indie folk, quite psychedelic at times. It's kinda like
Panda Bear meets Arcade Fire, but not really. Awesome stuff though.

The Veils - Sun Gangs

The Veil's album 'Sun Gangs' was released just before the summer and I
keep coming back to it. I reckon it's one of the best indy/alt rock
releases this year.

Although The Veils have been around a while I'd not heard of them
before, seems their lineup is ever changing, the original members
split just weeks after their debut release! This album was made in
London and was produced by Graham Sutton - turns out he's worked with
British Sea Power, another band I quite like.

The Maccabees - Wall Of Arms

Released earlier this year, 'Wall Of Arms' is the 2nd album from
british indie band The Maccabees. The whole album is really strong,
its not just regular old indie as it's got trumpets and horns and all
sorts - it was produced by Markus Dravs who has worked with Bjork and
also with Arcade Fire on their album 'Neon Bible' (which is also
great) and explains a lot.

It's thoroughly worth a listen.

Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix

Phoenix are undoubtedly one of my favourite indie bands and their
latest album 'Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix' is absolute quality.

The track above is called '1901'.

Friendly Fires

These guys seem to be getting a lot of hype at the moment. Especially
just having been nominated for the coveted Mercury Music Prize.
Electro tinged indie does seem to be popular at the moment though.

Personally I really like 'Strobe'...

Whitest Boy Alive - Dreams

Whitest Boy Alive are a hugely underated. Their music is stripped down rock/pop/funk.

Their singer & guitarist Erlend Øye is also in another band I love, Kings of Convenience.

'Dreams' was released in November last year and simply didn't receive the recognition it deserved.

The video for their track 'Golden Cage' is worth a watch purely for all the optical illusions and tricks...
