Democustico

Their album by the same name is excellent, extremely original, pure Brazilian samba funk.

The album starts soft and quiet with an acoustic track and is followed by a real mixture of sounds throughout. Great drums, percussion and broken beats feature heavily with dreamy vocals.

It gets the balance between uplifting and chilled just right for me.

The production is quality. This album has real rhythm and energy whilst remaining easy to listen to.

The following video uses the track 'Brazil' for about the first 1 minute and a half.

The Cinematic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall

Ma Fleur was easily the best album of 2007 for me. I just wonder if The Cinematic Orchestra have just unveiled the best album of 2008.

Released just this month, I was fortunate enough to be amongst the crowd that night back in November '07 and I am so glad they made a recording.

It is simply amazing.

Songs from their last album feature along side their classics to make up a great track-listing. Hearing it live allows you to discover them all over again.

They don't just reel off them off how they were recorded in the studio. Whole new compositions, sounds and moods are introduced.

The 24 piece Heritage Orchestra played along side the band members that evening and the atmosphere they add is unreal.

It gives the music a whole new dimension.

If you haven't spent time listening to the Cinematic Orchestra before and you are a fan of true music then you have just discovered one of the greatest bands ever.

Sia - Some People Have Real Problems

A brand new album from Zero 7 singer Sia.It's soulful, full of stings, piano's and trumpets and is great to listen to.

I'd say she sounds a bit like Corinne Bailey Rae.

You could easily glaze over 'Some People Have Real Problems' on first listen as it is very inoffensive, the kind of thing you might put on over dinner and forget about it in the background.

You would be doing yourself an injustice though.

It's an album i've listened to numerous times over and it gets better each time round.

Fink - Distance and Time

Media_httpbp3bloggercom4tqcetmleysr8babce0ibiaaaaaaaaadq1izqsmya08ws200finkdistanceandtimebjpg_jmbtjbfnwjsukxm
Acoustic goodness from Fink. If you like Jose Gonzales you'll like Fink.

I first discovered him because he features on the latest Bonobo album 'Days to come'. His own take on that track ('Make it Good') is on 'Distance and Time'. I guess they collaborated as both artists are signed to Ninjatune.

It's quiet, moody and it's engineered by Lamb producer Andy Barlow. I like it a lot.
